On this coming Saturday, September 5th 2015, the group ‚Deutschland wehrt sich‘ (‚Germany defends itself‘) will be marching through Wismar to spread their racist, inhumane and misanthropic propaganda. By cynically using socio-political issues such as social benefits, peace and the EU, they hope to reach a wider audience in society. On closer inspection however their real concerns are obvious – exclusion and fear-mongering. Consequently they represent a threat both to our open society and core democratic values.
We’re not having any of that! Why not? Because it is we ourselves who are responsible for this town and society we live in. That’s why we need to protest against any form of racist discrimination and exclusion, countering their hate with civil courage and a commitment to help asylum seekers and any other people in need.
Especially in times such as these with street riots and arson attacks on buildings available to asylum seekers, where people have to fear for their lives, we need to get active – no matter where we’re from, how young or old we are or who we vote for.
That is why we have formed ‘Wismar für alle’ (‚Wismar for everyone‘). Our alliance consists of both a broad range of social and democratic political initiatives, clubs and organizations as well as dedicated individual citizens. We are united in the idea of an open society for all, free of any form of racism.
